This career ladder serves to help designers on teams without a similar framework benchmark their progression. It also serves to provide an example for those looking to create their own frameworks or modify existing ones.

It has been reviewed by a diverse cast of designers from every level, who each evaluated 1) their current level, 2) the level above them, 3) and the level below them, to ensure that these criteria are fair and reasonably achievable. This has been further reviewed by other design leaders before being deployed in real life working environments.

So while I think it’s a pretty solid framework, here are a couple of caveats to consider before making it gospel:
